Andre Johnson

Living and working in Mt. Airy, both professionally and as a volunteer, Andre Johnson has served his community with distinction.

Andre was the first administrator of YouthWorks, a student summer employment project sponsored by Mt. Airy USA and the PIC, the Private Industry Council. Andre’s work in establishing this program in 1997 has provided a model for subsequent years. Andre continued to work with the youth of the community when he served, from 1997 to 1998, as the first advisor to TeenArt Partners, the teen program at the Sedgwick Cultural Center.

At the present time, Andre chairs the South Mt. Airy Task Force. In this capacity, he has worked tirelessly with neighbors on a number of important projects, especially, the food market developing on Germantown Avenue.
